More About Me
MEET BRENTON
I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy from Fordham University in May 2024. My dissertation, titled “The Metaphysics of the Human Soul: Erotic Pedagogy in Plato”, was supervised by Dr. Daryl Tress. I specialize in ancient Greek philosophy and philosophy of religion and have competency in medieval philosophy and ethics. I have a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Boston College, and also a Master’s degree in Bible and Theology from Calvin Theological Seminary. I have five years of undergraduate teaching experience as instructor of record teaching courses at Fordham University.
I am a historian of philosophy, and have interdisciplinary interests in theology, history, mythology, and psychology. I’m an avid audiobook listener, especially of sets of lectures in “The Great Courses” series.
When I’m not thinking about philosophy, history, or theology, I like to spend my time running, playing board or video games, watching classic or international films, and also doing landscape photography.

Course Development
As an example of the innovative techniques I employ in teaching, I like to screen the film Network for my PHIL1000 students and developed this very unique assignment for that course.
